The boathouse is intended to blend into the hillside as much as possible; it was to appear as a pleasant surprise to visitors.
As the heavy timber work neared completion on the Silven Spring main house, the M&L crew became very interested in pursuing a boathouse concept. The compound roof joinery and auxiliary systems to the heavy timber work – in addition to the challenge of working on a site inaccessible to vehicles – was very interesting.
Our client’s desired to add an intimate boathouse to the property to store kayaks (and associated gear) and provide a quiet place of refuge for family and friends to enjoy the coastline. Intended to blend into the hillside as much as possible; it was to appear as a pleasant surprise to visitors. M&L proposed to pre-cut and prepare all the components for the building in our shop in Cobble Hill with the final assembly on site.
