The Salt Spring Island Residence is a large family residence for which M&L provided a full design service to the owners. The timber frame was supplied and installed by M&L and is made from Douglas fir with a dark stain. The home is cruciform in plan and features a 3 storey stair tower at its centre. M&L also made the magnificent staircase within the central tower with a meditation space at the top. Being located on a steep hillside at the South end of Saltspring Island, the views from the top across the southern Gulf Islands are breathtaking.

M&L also supplied and installed the high performance Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) for the roof and walls and it is expected that the energy requirements for the home will be very low. The exterior porches on both sides are made of Western red cedar.
