This residence stands on a sandstone ridge at the North end of Galiano in the Gulf Islands of BCs coast. The owners contracted M&L to design and build their new home. M&L provided architectural and structural design services, permit application and general contracting services for this project.

The home has a timber framed structure made of Douglas fir with high performance Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) for the roof system. The exterior porches on both sides are made of Western red cedar as are the exterior trim and siding.

The living room and kitchen feature a direct glazing system to provide maximum light. This system applies high performance glazing units directly to the exterior of the timber frame to achieve a very clean look at relatively low cost.
