Macdonald & Lawrence is very excited to be a part of the Elkington Forest project. The history, vision and concept align with the values of the company.

The Elkington project looks to locate 77 homes within 1000 acres comprised largely of Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Hemlock and Shore Pine. Through the acreage run numerous streams and waterways which flow into Elkington Pond, Devereau Lake and Stebbings Lake.

The Elkington Forest is a privately managed acreage, 45 minutes from Victoria in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. Close to the communities of Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay and Langford, the property sits alongside the Capital Regional District Watershed and the Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park.

The team at M&L believes that thoughtfully designed homes should not be a dream realized by few - they should be an expectation for all. Beyond this, we insist on our buildings being sustainably built and working in harmony with nature.

The proposed model is intended to help protect the forest and it’s ecosystems through a combination of land conservation, eco forestry and ‘light-on-the-land’ residential spacing. Eighty-five percent of the 1000 acres will be placed on restricted covenant, allowing for only 15% of the land use to be for mixed use residential and commercial properties.

On November 6, 2010, Elikington Forest released the first 18 building lots, along with five conceptual home models. This moment marks where individuals and family can start to think of making the Elkington Forest their home; thus continuing on with the vision of the Elkington family.
